I'm Xavi. A Barcelona-born, London-brewed Director. 

I trained in Film & TV in Spain and Broadcast Journalism in the UK, before completing my directing studies at the National Film and Television School.

In my commercial and branded content work, I strive to create emotionally charged films - stories with a strong narrative drive, where the characters are the heart of the film. Two of my commercials were finalists at the Young British Arrows and the AICP Awards in 2022.

With a passion for driving change and social justice, I am developing a slate of scripted and unscripted projects through BADLANDS, my production company for impact-driven storytelling.

Through film, I aim to make sense of complex social issues, with a focus on migration stories, colonialism, borders, anti-racism, and progressive politics. I am drawn to documentaries and the social realism genre - films about ordinary people whose stories raise bigger questions. For me, the politics are embedded within the characters, the narrative, and myself.
